Rental Policy

Rental Terms and Conditions

Customers who rent any equipment agree to the following terms and conditions. No exceptions will be made to any portion of this policy.

Rental Charges

Published rental prices are daily rates. A one-day rental is considered: pickup during normal business hours and returned the following day by 4:00pm. The rental fee is paid in full for the number of days scheduled at pickup. Rentals not returned on the scheduled return date will be charged the replacement value of the rented equipment to the credit card on file. Rental prices are subject to change without notice. Equipment Quantity Limit

All renters are limited to three (3) items per rental period. The three-item limit is any combination of camera(s), lens(es), and flash(es). Accessories including microphones, tripods, background stands can be added on to any rental and do not count toward item limit. Accessories will be subject to a security deposit as stated in this agreement.



ID Requirement

A valid US Driver License is required to rent any equipment. Expired, damaged, non-legible driver license will not be accepted for rentals. Effective 8/9/2022, Passports, military ID, or any other form of ID will not be accepted for equipment rental.



Security Deposits

A deposit of $500 per item is required for any rental. A higher deposit may be required depending on the quantity and/or value of the equipment to be rented and rental history. A major credit card is required for the deposit. ATM, debit, check cards, and reloadable debit/credit cards are not accepted for deposits. The credit card used for the security deposit must be issued to the person who is renting the equipment. No exceptions will be made. Effective 7/10/2022, cash will no longer be accepted for security deposits.



Late Returns

Should the renter need to return the rented equipment after the scheduled return date, the renter must contact San Jose Camera by phone on or before the scheduled return date. Late returns will be charged the full daily rental rate for the equipment for each day the equipment is not returned. 

In the event the rental is not returned on the scheduled due date, the equipment will be considered stolen, and the renters form of payment will be charged the full replacement value of the equipment. If San Jose Camera cannot collect the replacement value of the equipment, San Jose Camera reserves the right to pursue all civil and criminal remedies. In the case of unreturned or lost equipment San Jose Camera will seek restitution, including but not limited to: recovering possession of the equipment, obtaining from renters form of payment any amounts owed, hiring outside debt collection firms or private investigators, filing of criminal charges, and any civil remedies available. These remedies are not exclusive.



Reservations

Reservations are accepted. Call to place your reservation no more than seven (7) days in advance. Reservations are NOT accepted via email or online. 



Rental Liability/Rental Protection Plan

Renter accepts full liability for any damaged or lost equipment. In the event of equipment damage the renter is responsible for repair cost(s) or the new replacement cost(s) of rented equipment. In the event a repair is needed the renter will be charged the cost of repair and any associated fees with the repair. See our rates page for Rental Protection Plan cost per item.


San Jose Camera offers a Rental Protection Plan which covers some accidental damage incurred during a rental period.

Our protection plan covers:

  • Impact Damage
  • Accidental Damage and Unintentional Abuse
  • Mechanical Malfunctions 


Our protection plan does NOT cover:

  • Water or Liquid Damage
  • Intentional abuse
  • Damage beyond recognition
  • Fire Damage
  • Lost or Stolen equipment
  • Sand Damage/Excessive Dust

All rented equipment remains at all times the sole and exclusive property of San Jose Camera. The renter has no rights or claims to any rented equipment.


*Rental protection does NOT cover damage from improper use photographing an Eclipse. Renter will be responsible for replacement cost of rented equipment should any damage should be found. San Jose Camera & Video is not responsible for damaged caused by improperly filtered lenses on your personal equipment.
